Safety used to just be about following the rules. The problem is, you can’t write a rule for everything. Instead, WorkSafe wanted to empower New Zealand’s workers to be more proactive – to look for the signs of danger and, when they sense something could go wrong, to step in and prevent it. They want New Zealanders to listen to their inner-meerkats.
